Why go green? For many of us ( not menting anyones age here)it is going back to being green .The entire concept of green living is reuse, recycle and reduce. If you are over 38( I said if) many of us grew up in a more eco-friendly environment. If you had older siblings you had hand me downs ( yes I may be showing my age).
McDonalds and any fast food were a 2 to 3 times a year event 30 years ago. We were used to eating home cooked meals and you did not leave the table until all your vegetables were gone. In the fall had fresh apple cider or picking fresh apples. I don't recall any of the meats had hormones in them at least not that we were aware.
Organic food is a newer term but we all ate greener foods when were were younger. We just need to get back to it now but to save some money in this area there are some foods we don't need to buy organic and still receive the nutritional value. .
Many of us took vitamins (Flintstones to be exact). We were told to take care of your toys because many of them went to cousins, family friend's kids or to church for kids that you did not even know.
In this industrial age that we live in we have become accustom to buying disposable items. With technology changing within months upgrading just have become way of life. We are constantly being told on TV, our I- phones and on our computers that if you don't have the latest technology you will be out of the loop. Toxins are sprayed on our clothes, on our food injected in our food.
There is a misconception that green living is only for the select few that can afford it. I understand when you see some of the cost of some items you ask yourself why go green. I can assure you that the few dollars more you pay at the register can save you thousands in health care cost. Think about just how expensive it is to be sick in the USA. Living green is about changing your attitude back to how our grandparents were raised and for some how we were raised. One easy example is instead of buying a new cell phone every time a new one comes out keep yours another year, just take one small step at a time.
Enjoy a greener environment- grow plants at home and office. Plants make the atmosphere pleasant and helps purify the air around you. Working in the garden is all good for the soul.
Make a donation to the community -Do not throw items away donate old clothes or toys many local associations will be grateful and need these items.
Recycle- Recycle everything you can. Cut down on your use of disposable products such as nylon bags, plastic and aluminum foil. Use rechargeable batteries. Think twice before you print something out. Use glass bottles instead of plastic.
I just listed a few easy and zero cost changes you can start right now. So why go green, we were born to be green.
